NTDA, OOU Partner to Launch Smart Tourism Hub for Virtual Access to Nigeria’s Destinations

In a strategic move to modernize Nigeria’s tourism ecosystem, the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has entered a partnership with Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) to establish a Smart Tourism Hub designed to provide students and the public with immersive, virtual access to the country’s diverse destinations.

Director-General of NTDA, Ola Awakan, an alumnus of the institution, said the initiative will serve as a catalyst for tourism growth by creating jobs, boosting revenue generation, and strengthening digital engagement within the sector. He revealed that the Authority is also developing a dedicated streaming platform to globally project Nigeria’s tourism narrative, noting that collaborations with universities and state governments will be expanded to deepen tourism education and programme development.

Vice-Chancellor of OOU, Ayodeji Agboola, commended the initiative, describing it as a transformative step for the university’s academic and infrastructural advancement. He emphasized that the Smart Tourism Hub will enhance institutional innovation, improve campus aesthetics, and open up new employment opportunities, reaffirming the university’s commitment to delivering accredited programmes and modern facilities that support both students and staff.
