NTDA To Host Tourism Diplomacy Breakfast Roundtable In Lagos

Nigeria’s tourism sector is set to advance through enhanced diplomacy, strategic partnerships, and improved market access, according to the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA).

The Tourism Diplomacy Breakfast Roundtable, scheduled for Tuesday, 19 May 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM in Lagos, will convene select consulates, industry leaders, and key stakeholders. The high-level engagement aims to deepen collaboration, strengthen bilateral tourism ties, and unlock fresh economic opportunities within Nigeria’s travel ecosystem.

Hosted by the NTDA under Director-General Dr. Ola Awakan, the event is organised in partnership with NTT Global Destinations. It receives kind support from the Embassy (Consulate General) of Brazil in Lagos and the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN).

This roundtable reflects NTDA’s broader push to position tourism as a major driver of economic diversification, cultural exchange, and national development. Nigeria’s tourism future, stakeholders emphasise, will depend not only on its rich destinations but also on structured international engagement and private-sector collaboration.

NTT Global Destinations, a key player in promoting credible and competitive Nigerian tourism products, has been actively involved in recent NTDA-led forums. FTAN, the umbrella body for private tourism businesses established in 1997, continues its long-standing role in bridging government and industry efforts, including recent commitments to joint marketing and promotion.

The involvement of the Brazilian Consulate highlights growing South-South cooperation in tourism and culture. Nigeria and Brazil have previously explored shared heritage links, including spiritual and cultural ties that could boost people-to-people exchanges and travel flows.

The compact two-hour breakfast format is designed for focused dialogue among diplomats, regulators, and operators. Discussions are expected to cover visa facilitation, joint marketing initiatives, infrastructure needs, and actionable bilateral strategies to attract more visitors and investment.

This event forms part of NTDA’s ongoing initiatives to move Nigerian tourism from potential to sustained prosperity, building on recent stakeholder forums and partnerships aimed at global competitiveness.

Details and participation information for the Tourism Diplomacy Breakfast Roundtable are available through official NTDA and partner channels.
