In a dazzling showcase of heritage, discipline, and womanhood, the Owiya Osese Festival of Magongo in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, Kogi State, has once again illuminated Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry—positioning the community as a must-visit destination for immersive tourism experiences.

This annual rite of passage, which gracefully initiates young maidens aged 15 and above into responsible adulthood while upholding values of purity, unity, and moral excellence, continues to draw global attention as a living emblem of cultural pride preserved across generations.
His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State, served as Guest of Honour, ably represented by Deputy Governor, His Excellency Salifu Joel Oyibo.

The Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, was represented by Dr. Olayiwola Awakan, Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA). Dignitaries also included HRM Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tijani Anaje, the Royal Father of the Day, and Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage as a cornerstone of sustainable tourism development.
