The annual festival, hosted by His Royal Majesty Oba Kazeem Adeshina Salami, the Osobia of Makun-Omi, transformed the riverine community in Ogun Waterside into a colourful spectacle of tradition and celebration.

Highlights included a spectacular boat regatta on the waterways, captivating cultural displays, energetic traditional dances, and a standout performance by the award-winning Makun-Omi Elesha Group, renowned for preserving the community’s ancestral dance heritage.
The event drew a distinguished gathering of royal fathers, traditional rulers, government officials, and notable dignitaries, underscoring the festival’s growing significance as a celebration of Ijebu Waterside riverine culture, local trade, and communal identity.

NTDA officials were warmly received and appreciated for honouring the invitation. In his remarks, Mr. Adegoke Adebayo reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to elevating Nigerian cultural festivals onto the global stage, aligning with broader efforts to harness tourism for economic growth and cultural preservation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Okosi Festival continues to shine as a prime example of Nigeria’s living heritage, blending aquatic prowess, artistic expression, and community pride. The NTDA’s participation highlights its strategic focus on partnering with local communities and traditional institutions to unlock the tourism potential of such festivals.
