The Taraba State Government, under Governor Agbu Kefas, has approved the allocation of 2,500 hectares of land across 12 strategic sites for the development of the La Campagne Tropicana Agro-Ecotourism Resorts, in a major public-private partnership aimed at transforming the state into a global tourism destination.
The expansive project, delivered in collaboration with the La Campagne Tropicana Resort Group, is designed to integrate agriculture, leisure, and ecological tourism across key locations in the state, including Jalingo, Ibi, Gashaka, Kurmi, Bali, and the Mambilla Plateau. According to details of the initiative, the project sites will collectively form a multi-centre eco-tourism network that showcases Taraba’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and agricultural potential.
Officials say the initiative is part of Governor Kefas’ broader economic transformation agenda, which positions tourism and agriculture as twin pillars of growth. The project is expected to generate significant youth employment opportunities, attract domestic and international tourists, and stimulate rural development through infrastructure expansion and private investment inflows.
Beyond economic gains, the administration also projects the scheme as a strategic response to insecurity, with the belief that job creation, community engagement, and increased economic activity will help stabilize vulnerable areas. Government officials further noted that the partnership reflects a long-term vision to place Taraba on the global ecotourism map.
When completed, the La Campagne Agro-Ecotourism Resorts are expected to feature eco-friendly lodges, recreational facilities, and adventure tourism offerings, positioning Taraba as one of Nigeria’s emerging hubs for sustainable tourism and cultural exploration.
