NIHOTOUR Visits Chinese Embassy to Strengthen Cultural and Culinary Tourism Exchange

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has paid an official visit to the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria to advance a strategic partnership focused on cultural and culinary tourism exchange between both nations.

During the visit, NIHOTOUR leadership and Chinese officials explored ways to deepen cooperation in gastronomy and cultural tourism, building on past collaborations where Chinese culinary culture and Nigerian food heritage converged under shared festival initiatives.

According to the Chinese Embassy, the engagement aims to foster stronger people-to-people exchange, culinary diplomacy, and cross-cultural tourism experiences that leverage food, hospitality and heritage as bridges between Nigeria and China.

NIHOTOUR, Nigeria’s apex institution for hospitality and tourism training and standards development, hopes the partnership will:

  • Expand international culinary knowledge and practice
  • Enhance Nigeria’s gastronomic offerings through intercultural cuisine experiences
  • Promote cultural tourism through food-driven initiatives
  • Strengthen Nigeria’s positioning as a destination for culinary and heritage tourism

The visit reflects a broader diplomatic effort between the two countries, where cultural exchange is being recognized as a platform for mutual understanding, tourism growth and economic development.

For NIHOTOUR, the move reinforces its commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism sector through global partnerships, professional excellence and product diversification beyond traditional tourism experiences.
