Edo Unveils “The New Frontier” Tourism Summit To Ignite Cultural Renaissance in Benin City

The Edo State Tourism Summit, Exhibition & Fashion Show 2026 officially kicked off its two-day convention today in Benin City, positioning the state as Nigeria’s emerging powerhouse for cultural and creative travel. Held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, the inaugural event blends high-level policy dialogue, vibrant exhibitions, and a signature fashion showcase to harness Edo’s legendary heritage for economic transformation.

Under the theme “Edo Tourism: The New Frontier,” the summit convenes government leaders, investors, artists, designers, and tourism stakeholders to spotlight the state’s 72 identified heritage assets—from the storied Benin Kingdom legacies to untapped natural and cultural sites. Organised by the Edo State Tourism Agency, led by Director General Lady Vivian Elabor, the gathering aims to drive investment, job creation, and hospitality sector growth while boosting internally generated revenue.

Day one features an art exhibition and strategic tourism conversations, while tomorrow’s highlight is the much-anticipated fashion show, complete with cash prizes for winners and participation fees to nurture emerging talents. Backed by Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration, the initiative underscores a deliberate push to translate Edo’s rich historical narrative into sustainable tourism dividends, fostering creativity, cultural pride, and global appeal.
As Benin City pulses with this creative energy, the summit signals a bold new chapter—elevating Edo from historical icon to a must-visit destination where tradition meets innovation.
