Nigeria Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) Backs “Ember to Remember” 2026, Calls for a Tourism Season Beyond December

The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has thrown its weight behind “Ember to Remember” 2026, describing the campaign as a timely chance to strengthen the country’s tourism economy and put Nigerian destinations in front of a wider audience.

The endorsement came at the National Press Conference for the campaign, where NTDA joined the Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Aare Abisoye Fagade, and the Chief Executive Officer of MyCityApp, Ifeoma Mbonu, along with other industry stakeholders.

“Ember to Remember” is built to link the country’s destinations, festivals, hospitality offerings and creative output on a single platform, with the broader aim of getting more Nigerians to travel within their own borders. Speaking on behalf of the agency, NTDA said the campaign’s goals sit comfortably alongside its own work to tell authentic Nigerian stories, pointing to three initiatives already under way: the forthcoming Naija Flavour International Tourism Expo (NAFITOE), the Tour Ride initiative, and NITOUREY, described as Nigeria’s first tourism-dedicated streaming hub.

The next milestone arrives on 14 September 2026, when Lagos hosts the Ember to Remember National Stakeholders Conference. The gathering will unveil the National Ember to Remember Calendar and bring together government agencies, tourism operators, private sector players, creatives, technology firms and the media, with the goal of shaping a more coordinated tourism season.

NTDA framed its support for the campaign around a single idea: a tourism sector works best when destinations, businesses and communities are connected, since that connection is what turns visibility into actual visitor spending. “Nigeria has extraordinary tourism experiences waiting to be discovered beyond December,” the agency said. “Ember to Remember gives us an opportunity to tell that story collectively and encourage Nigerians and visitors to explore the country.”
